Home → CIT (UK) Own Services → Install Remote Management Agent (RMM) → RMM Portal: First-time account activation and sign-in (with 2FA)
7.2. RMM Portal: First-time account activation and sign-in (with 2FA)
1) Invitation email
-
You will receive an invitation email from noreply@remote.management.
-
Subject line will be similar to: “Welcome to your new MSP Remote Monitoring & Management account”.
-
Open the email and select “click this link” to begin activation and set your password.
Commentary (security)
-
Treat this as a login invitation. If the sender address is not noreply@remote.management, or the email looks unusual, do not proceed—contact CIT (UK).
2) Create your account (name + password)
After clicking the link, your browser opens the Create Your Account page.
Complete the required fields:
-
First name
-
Last name
-
Password
-
Confirm password
Password requirements shown on the page:
-
Minimum 8 characters
-
At least 1 capital letter
-
At least 1 number
Select Create Account once all fields validate (the red warnings disappear).
Commentary
-
The email address is pre-filled and cannot normally be changed. If it’s wrong, stop and ask CIT (UK) to resend the invite to the correct address.
3) Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA is mandatory to access the service.
If you do not already have an authenticator app installed, the setup page lists supported options:
-
Google Authenticator
-
Duo Mobile (recommended)
-
Authy
-
Microsoft Authenticator
Install one on your phone, then select Next and follow the on-screen prompts to add the account to your authenticator app.
Commentary
-
Duo Mobile is recommended because it is straightforward and widely used in managed environments.
-
Keep the authenticator on a device you control. If you replace your phone, you will need the recovery method below.
4) Record your recovery code (important)
Once 2FA is configured, you will be shown a Recovery code and options such as Copy recovery code / Download code, plus Complete setup.
Do one of the following:
-
Copy the recovery code into your password manager, or
-
Download and store it in an approved secure location.
Then select Complete setup.
Commentary (critical)
-
The recovery code is effectively a spare key to bypass 2FA. Store it like a password.
-
Do not email it, do not put it in shared documents, and do not store it in plain text on a desktop.
Using the Monitoring & Management Dashboard
After setup, you can log in and access the dashboard.
Left-hand navigation
-
All Devices: primary device list and monitoring view.
-
Dashboards: overview panels for status, health, and key metrics.
-
Integration Hub: integrations and connected services (where enabled).
Main device view layout (All Devices)
-
Site tree (left pane): your organisation and site(s) (e.g., location/site name).
-
Device list (top/right pane): devices within the selected site, with status indicators.
-
Tabs along the top may include Servers, Workstations, Mobile Devices, Network Devices, Networks.
-
-
Detail panel (bottom pane): deeper info for the selected device, typically via tabs such as:
-
Summary, Outages, Checks, Notes, Tasks, Assets
-
Commentary
-
Day-to-day use is usually: select a site → select a device → review Checks and Outages → add Notes or create Tasks where required.
-
Use the search/filter controls in the device list to quickly locate endpoints.
Common issues (quick fixes)
-
No invitation email received: check junk/quarantine for noreply@remote.management; request CIT (UK) to resend the invite.
-
Create Account button stays greyed out: one or more fields still failing validation (usually password rules or missing first/last name).
-
2FA not working after phone change: use the stored recovery code; if unavailable, CIT (UK) will need to reset 2FA for the account.
